2000, Nr. 7-8, S. 46 News    New export manager    Eric Hervé, formerly an employee of Tetra-Werke, is working as of now as export manager at JBL, the aquarium products concern. He has responsibility for western France and part of Paris. The company expects that he will actively help specialist retailers improve sales as a result of his many years of experience in the aquarium-keeping sector.     gafa/spoga still expanding    The gafa/spoga international trade fairs for gardening and camping equipment expect 2 350 exhibitors from more than 50 countries from 3 to 5 September. The exhibition space will be extended by over 4 000 m2 to 244 300 m2. The proportion of foreign participants at gafa will, like last year, amount to approx. 60 per cent, and even 70 per cent at spoga. At this year's traditional IVG-Messe-Talk Heinz Wiezorek, for many years head of Coca Cola Germany, will speak on the subject of "Vision and brand ­ total communication" on the Monday of the fair.     APPMA opens up further       Companies without a branch in the USA will be able to exhibit at the APPMA in future. The picture shows the 1999 event in Nashville.    The American Pet Products Manufacturers Assocation (APPMA) intends to open up further to the international market. Previously only companies which are based in the USA, or at least maintain a branch there, have been allowed to exhibit at the APPMA pet fair, but now the possibility of a special type of membership for manufacturers outside the USA has been brought into existence. From 2001 on these special members will also be allowed to exhibit at the APPMA fair and participate in the events organised by the association. Further information is available on Fax 001/203/532-0551.     Glee in Birmingham    More than 1 000 exhibitors are expected at the trade fair Glee in Birmingham from 17 to 19 September. The fair organisers are also expecting over 20 000 visitors to this renowned garden and leisure fair. Based on last year's success of its sister fair, Nursery, the exhibition of gardening and horticultural supplies will again form an important part of Glee.     New look for "Eukanuba"    Iams Pet Food has just announced that it will be relaunching its "Eukanuba" brand of dry petfood, now made according to an improved recipe, on the German market in the next few months.
