2000, Nr. 3, S. 56 News         Jagd & Hund in Dortmund    Over 72 000 visitors ensured record attendance figures at Jagd & Hund, the international hunters' and anglers' exhibition held in Dortmund. According to information from organisers Messe Dortmund, the exhibitor side also achieved first-rate results with the participation of 546 firms, a quarter of them from abroad. The fair organisers also said that 88.2 per cent of the exhibitors questioned were satisfied with Jagd & Hund. In fact, 93.6 per cent of companies covered by a survey declared that they intend to take part again next year. The 20th of these exhibitions for hunters and anglers will be held from 30 January to 4 February 2001.           Qualipet still accelerating    Swiss specialist retail group Qualipet AG announces the opening of two new Qualipet Centres, nos. 29 and 30. These will be an outlet of 650 m2 in Will, St Gallen, and a store 1 200 m2 in size in Affoltern am Albis. Further new openings are being planned. This flourishing company is also active in the mail order field. Following the big Qualipet 2000 catalogue (previously reported), a comprehensive Qualihorse basic catalogue and a catalogue of cat products are already going into production.       Qualipet AG, Switzerland's leading pet retail chain.           Europe's first reptile fair    Due to take place in the Mercator Hall in Duisburg from 11 to 12 March is Reptil 2000, a specialist exhibition for reptile-keeping. This event, which is being directed by Zoo-Zajac, is the first of its kind in Europe. The organisers estimate that it will attract approx. 20 000 reptile fans. Exhibitors from industry, the retail trade, breeding establishments and clubs, as well as private individuals, will be presenting this hobby in all its variety on an area of approx. 7 000 m2. Selling will be permitted during both days. There are also plans for a comprehensive programme of lectures by the German Society for Herpetology and platform discussions on topics of current interest to run parallel to the show.           Distributor cooperation between Astra and BioPlast    BioPlast of Erkrath and Astra Aquaria of Osnabrück, two German suppliers of products for aquarists, have formed a new distributor partnership. With immediate effect Astra's own team of fieldworkers is providing support for distributing Bio Plast products. The aim of the cooperation is to be in a position to offer customers improved service…
