2000, Nr. 5, S. 108 News        Personnel changes at Penn-Plax    Penn-Plax, American accessories manufacturer, intends to increase its activities in Germany. To this end the company has engaged Lutz Hoefer as its new sales director for Germany. He has had many years of experience in the pet sector, including time in the field organisation of a manufacturer and as an importer of animal feed and cat litter. Yuri Jenkins, currently sales and marketing director for the United Kingdom, will be undertaking the same job for northern Europe including the United Kingdom and Scandinavia with immediate effect.         Animalia in Beaulieu    The consumer exhibition Animalia will be held at Beaulieu in Switzerland on 21 and 22 October. Last year more than 21 000 animal lovers attended the show. Awaiting visitors this time will be a big exhibition of birds in addition to a variety of competitions for dogs and cats, according to the organisers. The section for aquarists is to be expanded in comparison with previous years. The results of the sales show, which was held in Milan, have left Gimborn's managing director Norbert Röwekämper more than satisfied. According to him, not only the attendance figures but also the inflow of orders were most gratifying, since both surpassed expectations. The strategy of the company fair is now to be transferred to other countries as well, with plans for similar events to be held in Budapest and Prague this spring.         Interzoo attracts 6 per cent more exhibitors    It is expected that Interzoo 2000 will include over 900 direct exhibitors, or 6 per cent more than two years ago. Together with their co-exhibitors this will give a total presence of around 990 exhibitors. The net exhibition area is at the same time being expanded by 10 per cent to approx. 38 000 m2. International participation will rise to well over 60 per cent, with companies from 39 different states outside Germany expected at the fair. Germany will be presenting the biggest contingent with 360 direct exhibitors.
